When a stomach bug (literally) shits on your plans

As the title suggests really.

I woke up at 3:30am this morning with – let’s say – an urgency. Didn’t get back to bed until after I rang in sick at 5:30am, where I then slept until midday.

This, of course, caused problems with my temping. I normally temp at 5:30am when I wake up for work but today I had been awake for 2 hours prior to that, so I decided to temp when I woke after 6 hours’ sleep. Even though that’s not my normal temping time. It read 36.6.

Now this is open to interpretation. Is it 36.6 because it’s a temp spike and I ovulated yesterday? Or is it 36.6 because I’m ill? I took my temp at various points throughout the afternoon when I was in bed and the lowest was 35.9 (cripes!) and the highest was 36.2, so I haven’t ovulated. But still, this bug has now screwed up my chart and sets me back with my 1-temp-higher-than-the-previous-low-6-temps rule. I’m back to square one again as I DID have 3 temps at 36.2 for the past 3 days.

It’s also screwed up our sex plans. Dave is now off the hook until at least tomorrow night but probably Saturday night to be on the safe side. He joked about doing it tonight but changed his mind when he heard the noises from the bathroom this evening.

We did manage to get a session in last night despite me not getting home until 7pm and being absolutely knackered.

And all I can say is THANK GOD the bug struck 5 hours later.

Or else we could have been redefining the term ‘dirty sex’…

  1. Oh no, I’m so sorry you’re ill!! Feel better soon.

I hate when something happens to push your temperature up, especially right around ovulation time. I currently have a cold and the first few days I was eyeing my cart going “Is it up because I ovulated or because I’m ill?!”. It stayed up though so I’m thinking I did O, especially as other signs seem to confirm.

    1. Fingers crossed for your TWW Bev! I need to be better by tonight ready for our next session. I’d hoped the bug had left my system but everytime I try to eat it passes straight through me! Long term at school plus kids with germs equals this! Roll on Christmas!
